CHAINS SCREENS AT BAFTA
29th July 2009

CHAINS, a short film made through Northern Ireland Screen's Digital Shorts Scheme, featured in a Digital Shorts showcase at the Rushes Soho Short Film Market at BAFTA last week.

Screen Agencies from all across the UK presented a short film recently made in their area with crew members from each production giving a detailed production case study.

CHAINS is about a day in the life of Joanne, a little girl obsessed with Houdini and perfecting the ultimate escape. Following the screening director and writer of CHAINS, Alanna Riddell, took part in a Q&A.

This day of screenings, discussions and seminars highlighted all aspects of film production, with a focus on short format work. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the work of Northern Ireland Screen Digital Shorts alongside the films made throughout the other regions in the UK.

Other films screened were Vigilante (Dir. Darren Bolton, Yorkshire), Off Season (Dir. Deena Lombardi, South of England), Wintering (Dir Iain Finlay, East Midlands), George's Day (Dave Whitney, Northwest of England).

The next series of Northern Ireland Digital Shorts will begin principal photography in August 2009.
